Privacy policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
In short: Ownery does not collect personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no Ownery server. What you add to the app stays on your device and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your own private iCloud.
Who we are
Ownery is an iOS and iPadOS app developed by Eugenio Chessa (“we”). For any question about this policy, write to support@ownery.app.
What you store in Ownery
You decide what goes in the app: items (for example a car or a house), documents, scans and photos of documents, dates, amounts, notes and reminder settings. This information is saved on your device. We cannot see it and we never receive it.
Text recognition
When you scan a document or pick a photo, Ownery reads the text with Apple's on-device recognition (the Vision framework). The image and the text are processed on your iPhone or iPad and are not sent to us or to anyone else.
iCloud sync (Ownery Pro)
If you subscribe to Ownery Pro and turn on Sync with iCloud, your data is stored in the private iCloud database of your Apple Account, using Apple's CloudKit. Only you can access it; we have no access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy. If sync is off, nothing leaves your device.
Permissions the app asks for
- Camera: to scan documents. Scans stay in the app.
- Photos: through the system photo picker, Ownery receives only the photos you select. It has no access to the rest of your library.
- Notifications: to remind you before a document expires. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
- Calendar (add events only) and Reminders: used only when you choose to add a due date to them, to create that event or reminder.
You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings › Ownery.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details or your name. The app only checks with Apple whether your Apple Account has an active subscription.
Data we do not collect
Ownery contains no analytics, tracking, advertising or third-party SDKs, and it does not create a user profile. It does not use your data to track you across apps or websites.
If you have agreed in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymous statistics and crash reports. These do not include the content you store in Ownery.
Sharing and exports
Files leave Ownery only when you export or share them yourself (for example a PDF dossier or a CSV file). Where they go is your choice, through the standard iOS share sheet.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays until you delete it. You can delete single documents or items in the app, or delete the app to remove everything stored on the device. If you used iCloud sync, you can also remove Ownery's data from iOS Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage.
Your rights
Since we do not hold your personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side: you have full control over your data in the app and in your iCloud. If you are in the European Union you can still contact us at support@ownery.app, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
Children
Ownery is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
